Parking permits for 2020-21

Parking permits for the 2020-21 academic year will be available for purchase through UNCC MyPark beginning Saturday, Aug. 1. 2020-21 permits are valid beginning Aug. 15.

PaTS has  lowered the price of the annual permits to reflect the four week adjustment to the academic calendar. Semester permits have been lowered to accommodate the two week adjustment to the academic calendar. See the list of 20-21 permit prices.

How to choose a permit that meets your needs

Due to the mix of virtual, face-to-face and hybrid classes, you may spend less time on campus this semester.

PaTS offers a number of parking permit options designed to fit your needs:

  • Annual permits are a good option if you are planning to enroll in fall and spring classes, and you plan to park on campus more than twice a week. Annual permits work well if you are traveling to campus on different days of the week and at different times.

  • Fall semester permits are a good option if you are only taking classes in the fall, and you plan to park on campus more than twice a week or on different days of the week at different times.

  • Two-day semester permits are available to faculty, staff and students and are designed to be used for Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday classes or when you only need to be on campus the same two days a week. You must select the two days a week you plan to park on campus at the time of purchase. The designated days cannot be changed after purchase. These permits are only valid in commuter lots.

  • Lot 27 and North Deck discount permits are available to commuters who are willing to park further away from the academic center of campus. Quantities are limited.

  • Lot 27 and Lot 6 discount permits are available to faculty and staff who are willing to park further away from the academic center of campus. Quantities are limited.

  • Daily parking permits are a good option for faculty, staff and students who are only on campus a few days a semester.

For more information about all permit types available for purchase, please review the parking permit brochure. Call the PaTS Communication Center at 704-687-0161 if you have questions about selecting a permit.

Parking permit payment options

PaTS has gone cashless. All permit purchases must be made through UNCC MyPark.

  • One-time credit card
    • Anyone may purchase their permit with a one-time credit card payment.
  • Payroll deduct
    • Faculty and staff may purchase their permit through payroll deduction.
  • NEW: Credit Card on File Payment Plan
    • In partnership with Student Government Association, we are pleased to announce the launch of Credit Card on File (CCoF), a payment plan available to the entire campus community that allows you to pay for your permit over the course of three monthly payments.
    • CCoF will divide the price of your permit into three equal payments and charge your card for the first three consecutive months. The first payment is subject to a non-refundable $20 fee. Your permit will become active as soon as the first payment has been processed.

Parking enforcement

Parking enforcement was temporarily suspended in the summer due to virtual campus operations. Beginning Aug. 17, visitor parking will require payment and parking permits will be enforced in faculty/staff lots.

Student lots will be reserved for move-in activities until Sept. 7 at 5 a.m., when full parking enforcement will begin in all lots and decks.

Commuting alternatives

PaTS offers a number of ways to get around campus if you choose not to bring a car to campus. Some ways to get to and around campus include using:

  • Light rail to access campus from CATS’ LYNX stations. Parking at LYNX stations and park ‘n rides is free at most locations, but payment is required at JW Clay and University City Blvd. stations. Light rail is free for students and available at a reduced cost for faculty and staff.
  • Gotcha e-scooters and bikes to get you to class faster. Bikes may be taken off campus and returned, while e-scooters must be operated on campus at all times. Learn more about the Gotcha Mobility program.
  • Niner Transit to get around campus once you arrive. The Gold, Silver, Silver Express and Green lines connect all corners of the campus and run every 15 minutes.

Visit the PaTS Transportation Overview page to learn more about all the transportation options available.

If you are a student enrolled in classes at Center City, you will automatically have Center City Building parking privileges assigned to your permit.

Faculty and staff must add Center City Building parking privileges to their permit at the time of purchase.
